Joint Consultation with YP-CDN

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently published a discussion paper on improving accessibility, availability and affordability of essential medicines and basic health technologies for NCDs. WHO is seeking input from diverse stakeholders, in order to strengthen its technical assistance to Member States in efforts to meet the target of “80% availability of affordable basic technologies and essential medicines” for NCDs. The paper is open for public consultation until the end of August. The public consultation provides a tremendous opportunity for civil society engagement regarding the language and actions of WHO as it helps countries devise practical and actionable NCD strategies. The discussion paper is available at

The Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network and The Lancet Youth Commission on Essential Medicines Policies wish to submit a comment which reflects global YP-CDN member’s, and young people’s views and insights, to the WHO for consideration as it finalizes its discussion paper.

Submission now closed – Thank you for the support!
